Kahuna Massage

Kahuna Massage is an ancient form of bodywork which has been passed down traditionally by the 'Kahunas' who are the traditional healers in Hawaii - traditionally an apprentice would spend years in service to a Kahuna as they learned the craft and eventually became worthy of the role of placing hands on the body of the person to be healed. In Australia we are fortunate to have Mette Sorenson teaching at High Spirits Retreat, in Kin Kin, Queensland, where, since starting in 2013, Vanessa has studied Kahuna Massage Training. Vanessa completed Level 6 and 7 courses in September 2016 which have extended both experience and practice, and brought home some incredible new skills and techniques to share with clients. In Kahuna there is a huge range of scope, for example most Kahuna Massage Sessions would take a whole body approach, but then there are times when it may simply be a whole session on the ears, the face, it really comes down to the needs of the body at the time of the massage. A huge element of Kahuna is to let go and go with the flow...the massage strokes flow in a rhythmic and often mesmerising pattern, taking the client on a complete journey whilst they are on the massage table. Each Kahuna Massage differs, so please ask questions if you are interested.

A Kahuna Massage Treatment can be 60 minutes or longer. 90 minute or 120 minute treatment times allow for deeper work on the body and also for a greater sense of total relaxation. Kahuna works on spiritual, physical and emotional levels to create a whole body healing and incorporates an amazing variety of techniques which combine to create an incredible experience. Heartworks Lomi Lomi Massage

Heartworks Lomi Lomi is a traditional form of Hawaiian Massage incorporating long flowing strokes which stimulate the circulatory and lymphatic systems in particular. This form of massage has been passed from Sherman Dudoit to my teachers, Nemara Hennigan and Andrea Lopez, who in turn have shared this incredibly amazing form of Bodywork in Australia through their wonderful teachings of "Heartworks Lomi Lomi" at Rainbows Reach Retreat in NSW. Vanessa has been practicing Heartworks Lomi Lomi since 2006, and in 2013 refreshed techniques at Mettes Institute in Queensland by completing a course of Heartworks Lomi Lomi for Couples.

Heartworks Lomi Lomi treatments are 90 or 120 minutes in duration, giving time for true relaxation, and are as traditional as is possible in our climate! Sarongs are used for draping the body (with added warm towels when necessary), and warm organic coconut oil adds to the tropical atmosphere. All Heartworks treatments begin and end with a tradtional Hawaiian prayer which calls for blessing and healing, creating a flow of healing energy between the universe, the practitioner and the client.

Most of the massages are given in our cosy and peaceful Massage Room which is not far from the Reception area at Grampians Paradise, however on warm summer days by special request of clients, Vanessa is happy to perform Hawaiian Massage treatments -both Kahuna and Heartworks Lomi Lomi outdoors amongst the wetlands, trees, frog calls and magic of the natural environment at Grampians Paradise....(weather dependent). Aidan has also completed a Heartworks Lomi Lomi Course and Level 1/2 Kahuna Massage, so we are able to offer 'Two on One" massages on special occasions (that's two practitioners working on your body - four hands massage!) It is a real treat.

I am also happy to travel out to provide mobile massages, but please note that travel expenses will apply, depending on distance, if you are interested, please contact me for prices.
